The Dark Knight Rises

Before I get into my opinion of this movie, I'd like to take a moment to say I'm really upset by what happened in Colorado. Senseless acts of violence really just disappoint me. There really aren't any words for something like this, or any act of terror, really.

We went to the midnight showing at the Plano Movie Grill. Oh my, the theater was so cold, I was pretty miserable throughout. (It's a little creepy to me that as I was watching this movie here in Dallas, other people watching the movie in Colorado died.) But regardless of the ridiculous temperature of the theater, I did enjoy the movie.

The Dark Knight Rises was really good. Great even. Best movie ever, as some reviews on IMDB said? I'm not sure I can say it was the best movie ever. But yes, it was very, very good. I really like Christian Bale as Batman, even if I do think he's a little odd in real life. Michael Caine is one of my favorite older actors, as is Morgan Freeman. In my opinion, we didn't see enough of them, but the story didn't call for it. Whenever I see Gary Oldman, I think of Sirius Black. Just saying.

The plot and script are great. No part of it is boring or slow and even though the movie is almost three hours, it doesn't feel quite that long. One thing is I never really understood why Bane, the main villain of the movie, is wearing that mask thing. I don't think how that came to be was explained fully and it bothered me, but that's just me. Maybe you don't care about trivial details ;-)

I did like how Batman was tested both physically and mentally by Bane and I definitely believe it made him stronger in both capacities. I liked the ending. Perfect way to wrap up the trilogy. I definitely recommend this movie, especially if you like this series although you don't have to be caught up to enjoy it.
