I'm having serious mascara issues. I branched out from my old favorites thinking I would find something just as good, if not better. So far, no dice.
I tried the new Maybelline Mega Plush (teal tube, pink writing) volumizing mascara in blackest black. I have two problems with it. First, the formula - it didn't go on as smooth as I would have liked, and didn't seem to separate my lashes, nor volumize them to my liking. Second - the stupid wobbly brush. I'm sure there is a function for this, but I felt like the wand wasn't steady and that it didn't really get between the lashes. It's so flimsy, my lashes push the brush away. If you can't tell, I'm not a fan.
I also tried NYX Doll Eye long lash mascara in black. I liked this a tiny bit better than the Mega Plush, but it still isn't what I want from a mascara. The formula isn't what I like, and alot of excess seems to cling to the brush, therefore getting goops of mascara on my lashes. I do like the shape of the brush and the wand is steady, so this is definitely a step up from Mega Plush. I'll probably keep this as a back up. Mega plush will be a back up in case there is no mascara left in the world and I'm desperate.
I had a back up tube of my go-to mascara, the Cover Girl Lash Blast. I had an orange tube (volumizing) as a back up, so I opened it yesterday and recused my lashes from clumpy, unlengthened, unvolumized horror. Cover Girl is the one to beat! I also really like Urban Decay Super Curling mascara, but my travel tube is running out =(
So I've decided I'm having a mascara-off. I'm going to buy several tubes of mascara that have been recommended to me, both drug store and high end, and see which wins! I'm so picky about my mascara because my eyelashes are one of the features I like best about myself and I need something to highlight their awesomeness ;-)
Benefit - They're Real
Maybelline - Lot's of Lashes
Clinique - High Definition Lashes
Bare Escentuals - Buxom Mascara
Armani - Eyes to Kill
I bought a tube of Urban Decay Big Fatty on sale for $5, so I'll be testing that out too. I've also wanted to try L'oreal's voluminous line, so I'll probably pick one of those to test too.
If you have any recommendations, leave them in the comments!
