Like nails being ripped off? Not entirely. But enough to hurt like hell. I've had that happen before though. Losing an entire nail. Got shut in a heavy front door. Don't play with doors, kids. 

Please excuse my poorly manicured fingernails. 

I was at the doctor last night getting my foot checked out and had to use the restroom. Upon exiting said restroom, I pulled the heavy door open with my right hand and then tried to push it open more with my left hand. The door slipped and basically ripped any growth of nail clean off. And separated the nail from the nail bed slightly. It hurts. Bad. I'm a baby.
